EastBay Firearms is a licensed FFL dealer in Livermore, CA, and we handle firearm transfers seven days a week for customers across the East Bay and Tri-Valley. If you've bought a gun, ammo, or firearm parts online and need a California FFL to receive the shipment, we're here to take care of it.

As an FFL, we can receive anything firearm-related that's legal to ship into California, including firearms, ammunition, receivers, and parts. Whether you're buying from a major online retailer, a private seller out of state, or an auction site, the process is the same. Confirm the item is California-compliant before you buy, which for handguns means checking the California DOJ roster, then provide our FFL information to the seller and come in to start the paperwork once it arrives.

The Transfer Process

Shipping a firearm or ammo to our Livermore FFL is straightforward. Before you check out on an online purchase, give us a call or send an email to eastbayguns@gmail.com so we know a shipment is coming and can send you our FFL information to provide to the seller. Email is the easiest way for us to get that information to you, and it saves you having to write anything down over the phone. Make sure the item you're ordering is legal to sell to a California resident before you commit, since we can't release anything that doesn't meet state requirements.

Once your tracking shows the shipment has arrived, give us a call to confirm it's ready for paperwork. From there, you can come in at your convenience to get started. For firearm transfers, California's standard purchase process applies, including the DROS background check, the 10-day waiting period, a valid California ID, and a Firearms Safety Certificate (FSC). Ammunition and parts don't have a waiting period, but we'll still need you to come in during business hours to complete the transfer.

Our transfer fee is $100 for firearms and 10% of the subtotal for ammunition shipments. We'll also collect any California taxes that weren't already paid at checkout. Many online retailers charge California sales tax at the time of purchase, but the state excise tax on firearms and ammunition is something we're required to collect on our end, so expect that to be added to your total when you come in for pickup.
