CCW License Training and Live-Fire Qualification
Our CCW Qualification Course provides the training and live-fire qualification required for a concealed carry license application in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The course is taught over two 8-hour days, CCW 1A and CCW 1B, and new applicants must complete both for the full 16 hours. CCW 1A is 8 hours of classroom instruction at EastBay Firearms, covering the legal and practical responsibilities of carrying a firearm. CCW 1B is 8 hours of live-fire training at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club, where classroom knowledge is put into practice under instructor supervision and you're tested on the range at the end to complete your qualification. If you already hold a license and are renewing, you only need to book CCW 1B. For renewals, the day starts with 4 hours at the range and finishes with 4 hours of classroom instruction at EastBay Firearms, covering your renewal training requirement for Contra Costa County. Class sizes are kept small so every student gets personal attention and plenty of time to ask questions, and enrollment is limited to 8 new applicants and 8 renewal participants per month.

What to Know Before You Book
New applicants must book both CCW 1A and CCW 1B. Renewals book CCW 1B only. CCW 1A is $400 and CCW 1B is $300, so the full qualification totals $700 and the renewal is $300. Each is booked separately in the scheduler below, so be sure to select both if you're a new applicant. Each class day runs 9am to 5pm, so plan on a full day. Bring water and a lunch or snack, and dress for the weather. Because enrollment is capped each month, spots can fill quickly, and we recommend booking early to secure your place. Available dates are listed in the scheduler below.
CCW 1A is classroom instruction only. For CCW 1B, ammunition is not included and a minimum of 300 rounds is required. You can stop by the store beforehand to pick up the required 300+ rounds, or bring your own. You'll also need eye and ear protection, four magazines, an OWB (outside-the-waistband) holster, and a magazine holster. Renewal participants will begin CCW 1B at the range alongside new applicants, then continue the rest of the day at EastBay Firearms. If you have questions about the gear requirements or which class is right for you, call or email the shop and we'll point you in the right direction.
